Can it dethrone the Taycan Turbo GT

Meet the SU7 Ultra, Xiaomi’s audacious, track-hungry electric saloon that’s gunning for the Nürburgring lap record held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.

Under the hood, or rather, beneath the floor, the SU7 Ultra packs a trio of electric motors delivering a staggering 1,527bhp. With torque figures that could rival a superhero on a bad day, Xiaomi’s latest EV boasts some jaw-dropping numbers: 0-100 km/h in a blistering 1.97 seconds, 0-200 km/h in just 5.97 seconds, and a top speed of 350 km/h.

Details are still under wraps, but what we do know is the SU7 Ultra is equipped with Pirelli P Zero tyres and AP Racing brakes, essential for taming all that power. The car has shed 500 kg thanks to a rigorous carbon fibre diet, bringing the weight down to around 1,900 kg.

Aerodynamics have been a key focus, with a new aero kit that increases downforce to over 2,145 kg. This, combined with the Pikachu-inspired paint job and aggressive design tweaks, ensures the SU7 Ultra not only performs but also turns heads.

Xiaomi is serious about this challenge, and the SU7 Ultra’s first crack at the ‘Ring is set for October. The goal? To beat the Taycan Turbo GT’s formidable lap time of 7 minutes 5.5 seconds.

The stage is set for an electrifying showdown
