The Nevera currently weights 2304 Kg

Rimac Automobili is celebrating the Nevera's recent drive at the Nurburgring, where it set the record for production EVs, fresh off of yet another appearance at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. The all-electric car manufacturer is constantly exploring for methods to enhance performance, notably by shedding weight, despite its recent accomplishments.

Motor1.com Senior Editor Jeff Perez chatted with Chief Technology Officer Emilio Scervo during a celebration of the Nevera Time Attack special edition at The Quail. He agreed that future EV supercars may lose some weight, especially if Rimac intends to compete in races.

Making it lighter is absolutely what we should be concentrating on when considering a track version of the Nevera, according to Scervo. "And some other adjustments to deliver stiffness, to strengthen the connection between the car and the driver."

While Scervo refrained from confirming that Rimac was working on track-only sports vehicles like the newly unveiled Maserati MCXtrema, he did note certain places where the Nevera may be improved if max-attack performance is the end aim. Electrical components that are less heavy would be beneficial, as might a battery with superior range degrading full-acceleration moment resistance. Theoretically, a battery of this type may be shrunk to reduce weight even further.

Even though the Nevera weighs 2304kg as is, it is one of the quickest cars we've ever driven. A fast test drive in an early-production Nevera, which will reach 100kph in just 1.9 seconds, was provided to us at the Monterey Car Week last year. During that drive, we were astounded by the Nevera's superb grip and docile handling, which allowed for far quicker cornering speeds than we had anticipated.

We had a similar experience to the car's record-breaking run at the Nurburgring, where it completed a lap in 7 minutes, 5.298 seconds, a full 20 seconds quicker than the previous record-holder, a Tesla Model S Plaid with the Track package. Additionally, there could be a little bit more performance available if Scervo's remarks turn out to be true.
