The GT4 Racing Variant Just Got a Fresh Update

While the future of the Toyota GR Supra seems uncertain, the brand’s Customer GT4 racing program is still firing on all cylinders, shrugging off whispers about the Supra’s eventual retirement.

Cast your mind back to 2019—it feels like a lifetime ago—when Toyota unveiled the GR Supra GT4 EVO, their customer-focused race car set to compete in the 2020 season. At a price tag of about €206,000, you got a machine churning out a punchy 320 kW, ready to take on the GT4 circuits in Europe and the U.S. But since the rare road-legal variant surfaced in 2023, updates on the race car have been few and far between.

Speculation started brewing about the future of the GT4 program, especially as rumors spread about the demise of the GR Supra’s twin, the BMW Z4, in 2026. Built alongside the Supra by Magna Steyr in Austria and sharing much of the same DNA, the end of the Z4 could spell the same fate for the Supra. Yet, despite these rumblings, Toyota’s GR Supra racing outfit isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Enter the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, a sharpened and more focused evolution of the original GT4 EVO. Toyota Gazoo Racing, ever committed to customer feedback, has spent years fine-tuning this new variant to make it even more formidable on the GT4 stage. The ABS software has been reworked for crisper, more precise braking, and the transmission has been tweaked to cut down on downshift times, refining the Supra’s already slick rev-matching capabilities. Plus, improved cooling systems for the brakes, drivetrain, and cockpit make the EVO2 more resilient in hotter racing conditions—a nod to those long, grueling endurance races where heat is your fiercest rival.

The all-new 2025 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 is set to make its debut on the hallowed tarmac of the Daytona International Speedway in January 2025, lining up for the first round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at the 24 Hours of Daytona. If you’re hunting for a race-ready weapon and have around €239,000 to spare, TRD USA is ready to take your order for the new Supra GT4 EVO2. It's an offer that serious racers will find hard to resist.
