Alpine has unleashed a truly special, very limited, and seriously powerful version of its already stellar A110. Meet the A110 R Ultime. Alpine's ultimate track weapon, and it’s nothing like your run-of-the-mill A110, not that any A110 is remotely average.
Under the bonnet, the familiar 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder gets a serious upgrade. A reworked turbocharger, featuring a new turbine and compressor, cranks the power up to a hefty 257 kW. That makes this the most powerful variant of the A110 yet, a car Gordon Murray famously fancies as his daily driver.
But it’s not just about headline figures. Yes, there’s a significant increase in torque, now hitting 420 Nm, and an additional 160 kg of downforce compared to the A110 R Turini. The 0-100 km/h sprint? Shaved down to a blistering 3.8 seconds two-tenths quicker than the Turini.
Alpine hasn’t stopped there. It’s got 330 mm AP Racing discs, staggered 18-inch front and 19-inch rear lightweight forged wheels, and an updated six-speed gearbox, ready to handle all that extra torque. It’s all been meticulously engineered to deliver maximum thrills, especially when you take it to the track.
The real magic, though, comes from the aerodynamics. This thing is a downforce beast, with a wild aero kit that includes splitters, flicks, fins, bonnet vents, and a massive rear wing, all designed to make the car even more agile through the corners. Alpine claims the tweaks enhance its cornering, acceleration, and handling to make it even sharper.
“The goal of the chassis work was clear: enhance the car’s performance even further,” Alpine said. “With a perfect balance of agility and power, the A110 R Ultime is a true road-legal race car.”
It sure looks the part. And because it’s an ultra-limited edition, you can make it truly yours. Buyers get a high level of customisation, from bespoke colourways to specific design details, meaning you can stamp your personality all over this Alpine.
The car pictured is the A110 R Ultime 'La Bleue,' a version limited to just 15 cars. So, you’re looking at a limited edition of a limited edition. This one? It gets every bespoke option Alpine offers, which helps explain the price tag.
And here’s the clincher: Alpine will only build 110 units of this hardcore, track-focused R, with prices starting at roughly R5.1 Million. But the ultra-exclusive La Bleue? That one will set you back R6.5 Million.
