You can get the Fantom Air boat for R13 million in any Porsche exterior color.

Porsche may not have officially shown its all-electric Macan, but it did say earlier this year that it will feature motors that could provide "up to 600bhp" and a 100kWh battery.

The fact that Porsche has now had the engine installed in a boat suggests that the company is pretty proud of the powerplant. This is the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air, and you read it right.

The special edition Porsche boat is an all-electric version of the Austrian boatbuilder's normal 850 Fantom Air. It is outfitted with the 100kWh battery from the forthcoming Macan, which is installed beneath the aft 'lounge area'. The permanently excited synchronous electric motor from the tiny SUV is also there and functioning as intended, although it is only capable of producing 'only' 536 horsepower.

As a consequence, the boat can travel at a high speed of over 85 kph while maintaining a cruising range of 45 kilometers at 40 kph. However, Porsche claims that the powertrain has modes for docking, range, sport, and sport plus, and that a range of more than 100 km is feasible. Additionally, it states that "average customer visits combining slow and high-speed transport allow a journey time of 2 - 3 hours.

The Macan's 800-volt design enables it to accept quick charging at rates of more than 250kW even when the battery is almost empty. However, you must confirm that the boatyard has a fast charger that is easily accessible. Not really practical if you had to load it onto a trailer and transport it to the motorway service stop down the road, would it?

According to Stefan Frauscher, managing director of Frauscher Shipyard, "This boat is a real milestone in the industry." "The electric version of the Fantom Air is better than the version with an internal combustion engine in all driving characteristics, such as top speed, acceleration, and handling - and at the same time, locally emission-free."

Porsche also contributed to other parts of the car besides the engine. Behind a recognizable Porsche steering wheel with a classic five-gauge arrangement, the interior of the cockpit appears to be finished in fake leather that is more resistant to salt water. The Fantom Air can accommodate nine passengers in total, and the seats are also modeled like those in Porsche's road vehicles.

It appears that "the entire color palette that Porsche offers for its road vehicles" will be available for selection, just like it is on land, making the typical Porsche choices list accessible on water as well. The initial price of R13 million makes it unclear whether you'll have to pay extra for any of the fantastic Paint to Sample colors.
