A single owner's collection of 56 Porsches, all painted white, will soon be put up for auction. And yes, you are correct; practically all of them are inaccessible to normal people.
So welcome to an exotica-filled Porsche paradise covered in snow and worth millions of dollars. The collection is capped off by a 2015 "Grand Prix" white Porsche 918 Spyder, which auctioneer RM Sotheby's refers to as "the crown jewel" of the whole sale.
This particular Porsche boasts unique tailoring that cost $96k, demonstrating how keen the sole owner was about their Porsches. The Weissach pack, too. RM predicts it might sell for $3 million.
Another pleasure is a 1973 Grand Prix white 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring that's been in a single ownership for the most part of 20 years. It's a very magnificent matching-numbers car. For almost $1.2 million, yours.
A third 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight ($2 million), a 1993 911 Carrera RSR 3.8 ($2.5 million), and a 1994 911 Turbo S X85 "flat nose," one of just 39 made for the US, are all in the running. Only two Grand Prix white vehicles exist, and this one is expected to sell for almost $2 million.
There are undoubtedly more, such as a pair of tractors made by Porsche and a whole workshop's worth of Porsche memorabilia, including miniature cars, skis, furnishings, even a teddy bear and a hard helmet. Even the venue of the auction is called a "sanctuary" since it is a "bright, expansive and meticulously crafted" room with high ceilings and reflecting flooring. Of course it would appear cold.
According to Gord Duff, worldwide head of auctions at RM Sotheby's, "These vehicles, which show high originality and remarkably low mileage, are among the most sought-after Porsche sports cars in the current market."
The most affordable one there? A 1990 944 S2 Cabrio is expected to sell for up to $60,000. Bargain!
