Do you recall the Delta Futurista? It was Automobili Amos' 330bhp reinterpretation of the Lancia Delta Integrale 16V and was essentially the pinnacle of hot hatch restomod. It wasn't just theoretical though, as Automobili Amos revealed that all 20 models had been manufactured and delivered to their incredibly fortunate owners four years after the unveiling in 2018. We're not at least envious.
As this is a genuine rally-spec restomod that is intended to be utilized, we can't think that the 10 Lancia Delta Safaristas will stay so glossy for very long. However, now there is something fresh and sparkly for us to be excited about.
The marketing bumf states, "From our perspective, automobiles are too frequently purchased as trophies rather than as something capable of enabling their owners to enjoy unique adventures. And via this new endeavor, we hope to forge connections with like-minded individuals who can share a spirit of adventure while making lifelong memories.
Although the company hasn't officially provided performance data for the Safarista, all the components that went into its construction are quite serious. Additionally, creator Eugenio Amos stated: "In the end, the numbers really mean nothing" when he launched the Futurista. I'm talking about emotion, nostalgia, and joy, and statistics cannot capture these sentiments.
What therefore goes into the Safarista? The three-door carbon body, which features those appropriately boxy arches and a ton of extra protection lower down, is the most logical place to start. A stronger chassis and complete roll cage are located underneath, and the engine has been overhauled with a new cooling system, a Motec ECU, and an anti-lag system. 394 horsepower is the outcome.
The gearbox is a five-speed sequential 3MO Motorsport unit, and the diffs are reportedly also motorsport-spec. While the hydraulic handbrake is provided by AP Racing, Brembo provides the brakes, and Reiger provides the adjustable suspension. Those conceal themselves beneath the off-road Pirelli Scorpion Evo Corse wheels.
Two Sabelt carbon bucket seats, adjustable Tilton pedals, a Motec dashboard, and even plastic windows are included in the interior's bare essentials. Proper.
Of course, none of this is really affordable. Including Taxes and the price of a Delta Integrale 16V are included in the total, which comes to nearly R14 million.
