Kia’s rapid EV6 GT will make its dynamic debut at Festival of Speed’s famous hillclimb later this month

The forthcoming Kia EV6 GT - the much punchier, almost supercar-troubling version of Kia’s flagship electric car - will be making several appearances at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week.

And before you pick us up on ‘supercar-troubling’, allow us to point out that that dual-motor GT packs a rather substantial 577bhp and 546lb ft of torque for 0-62mph in… 3.5secs.

That’s more than a bit rapid, as is the 162mph top speed when you think how many EVs generally peter out shy of triple figures.

Anyhow, it’ll be the first time we’ve seen the EV6 GT in action, with rally driver Jade Pavelely at the wheel for each of the car’s hillclimb runs.

According to Kia there’s a ‘GT’ button on the steering wheel that engages GT mode, putting the motors, brakes, steering, suspension, electronic limited-slip differential and stability control in their most dynamic settings. Ideal for blasting up the hill.

There’s also a ‘My Drive’ mode for anyone who wants to further fine-tune the ride, handling and performance.

First deliveries of the EV6 GT are set to happen at the end of 2022, with prices starting from £59,995. If that’s a bit steep, you’ve always got the new e-Niro SUV instead. Or, you know, the standard, quite-good-without-577bhp EV6.
