This, folks, is the last ever Hennessey Exorcist, based on the Camaro ZL1 ‘Final Edition’ that was revealed earlier this year.
Originally conceived in 2017 with a mission to ‘slay the Dodge Demon’, the farewell Exorcist’s raison d’etre remains unchanged, only this time it’s pitched against the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, also the last of its kind. Extinction match!
As ever the Exorcist sees the Camaro’s stock 650hp boosted to four figures, with 1,000hp and 1300 Nm courtesy of a long list of upgrades and mods.
Hennessey has fitted a bigger, high-flow supercharger to the 6.2-litre V8, along with a high-flow air induction, uprated auxiliary fuel system, injectors and pump. Meanwhile the engine’s cylinder heads have been ported, with custom HPE camshafts fitted and intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, retainers, lifters and pushrods all upgraded.
An oversized heat exchanger brings better cooling, and ong-tube stainless steel headers and high-flow catalytic converters improve airflow even more.
Add in new engine management software and you end up with 0-100kph in 2.1 seconds, a quarter-mile sprint of 9.57s and a top speed of 350kph. Not enough to beat the Demon 170, but enough to keep it looking in its peripheral vision if it doesn’t nail the start in a drag race.
Only 57 Final Edition Exorcists will be made, a nod to the 57 years since the Camaro first entered production. As such a numbered plaque appears on the engine bay, and special graphics are added to the interior.
“Our comprehensive upgrade to the Camaro ZL1 is one of my all-time favourites,” said CEO and founder John Hennessey. “The chassis, suspension, and powerplant work seamlessly together, so all the driver experiences is raw, unbridled horsepower. There’s nothing else like our Exorcist, so we’re eager to share this special limited edition with fans of this iconic car before it’s gone forever.”
