It's inspired by the SR-71 Blackbird

Cars and airplanes simply seem to go together so naturally, don't they? The bizarre Lamborghini Reventon, the Spyker C8 Aileron, the Vector W8, as well as virtually all of Saab's marketing from the 1980s and 1990s, come to mind. Oh, and Planes, which is a sequel to Pixar's Cars.

Anyway, in this case, the aircraft came first since, as you might have guessed, the new Czinger 21C Blackbird was designed in part to pay homage to the legendary Lockheed SR-71 surveillance jet.

As a result of the 1+1 seating arrangement and Czinger's ultra-technical 3D printing approach to as much of the car as possible (no, the plane wasn't 3D printed, but it was innovative, and Czinger believes its technology can reinvent the supercar industry), the bonkers 21C actually drew inspiration from the Blackbird from the very beginning.

In order to fully embrace the spy plane look, this one-off special edition resets the timeline of the 21C tale and has a jet-black exterior paired with SR-71-inspired livery. More black is present inside as well (extremely stealthy), with a 'afterburner orange'-colored backing as a contrast. That's really great.

Additionally, the Blackbird version has unique wheels with spokes that mimic the plane's fabled top view profile. Additionally, the hybrid powertrain has received a useful boost. We're told that the SR-71 spec increases the 1,233 horsepower produced by the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V8 and two electric motors in the normal vehicle to 1,350 horsepower.
