Aiming to Outpace F1 and Le Mans Cars

Rimac, the maestro of mind-bendingly fast electric cars and pioneering electrification tech, is at it again. This time, they’re not just pushing the envelope—they’re tearing it to shreds. The Croatian automaker has announced plans to develop a single-seater that could very well be the fastest car on the planet.

Yes, you read that right. Rimac’s head honcho, Mate Rimac, has set his sights on building a car that would leave even Formula 1 and Le Mans racers in its dust. If that doesn’t get your adrenaline pumping, nothing will.

Speaking at Monterey Car Week, Mate Rimac hinted at this groundbreaking project. “The Nevera R is here to push the limits of road cars,” he said. “But we’ve been quietly working on something else, something even more extreme.”

“Imagine a Rimac single-seater that’s going to be faster than any race car on most tracks. Faster than Formula 1. Faster than Le Mans,” he declared.

That’s all he’d reveal for now, but the implications are tantalizing. It wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine the Nevera R’s monstrous quad-motor setup—already a force of nature—being repurposed for something even more laser-focused.

For context, the Nevera R packs a next-gen 108 kWh battery, lighter and more efficient than the unit in the ‘standard’ Nevera, and powers four electric motors to deliver a staggering 1,548 kW. That’s enough grunt to launch it from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 1.81 seconds and from 0 to 300 km/h in a scarcely believable 8.66 seconds.

Then there’s the Nevera R’s improved aerodynamics, reduced understeer, and advanced traction control—features that shaved a whopping 3.8 seconds off the standard car’s lap time at Nardo’s handling circuit.

Now, imagine all that electrifying tech crammed into a featherweight, rigid single-seater chassis designed solely to obliterate lap records… and possibly rearrange your internal organs in the process. If Rimac pulls this off, we’re in for one hell of a ride. Stay tuned; this is just the beginning.
