Audi is now selling its fastest accelerating car in a prototype livery. Strange

Quite why you’d want a car that looks like a prototype – perhaps you’re really into ‘early adopter chic’ – is beyond us. Still, if such chic appeals, Audi has announced that it will build a limited number of these RS e-tron GTs.

They will only be available for American customers, mind, developed to closely resemble the e-tron GT prototype Audi deployed ahead of the production car’s release into the world, complete with similar camouflage-style graphics.

It’s called ‘project_513/2’ which sounds like something out of Blade Runner, here referencing Audi’s internal naming convention of segment/generation/body style. Along with the red und black colour scheme inside and out, you also get 21in aero wheels, ceramic brakes with red calipers, yet more graphics on the dashboard and lots of carbon fibre parts (the roof, door inlays, mirror caps and sill inlays).

There’s also the not-so-small matter of the RS e-tron GT’s drivetrain – a twin-motor all-wheel-drive setup able to propel the big EV from 0-100kph in 3.1s, making it the brand’s fastest-accelerating car.
