Achingly cool restomod gets achingly cool livery in nod to its rallying glory days

You’ve gawped adoringly at the utterly glorious Kimera EVO37 restomod, now let the drool run freely from your open mouth at this Martini-liveried edition. The word you’re looking for is ‘phwoar’.

Yup, this Martini 7 edition pays homage to the seven World Rally titles Martini Racing won with Lancia between 1983 and 1992, particularly that first crown won by the car that gives this work of art its name; the Lancia Rally 037.

It uses the same 2.1-litre 4cyl engine in Kimera’s standard (or should that be less specialised?) car, except power has been boosted from 500 to 550hp.

Meanwhile weight has come down owing to obsessive use of carbon fibre, so a final figure of 1,100kg means you’re looking at 500hp per tonne.

That carbon fibre equips the EVO37 with an aero package that includes a front splitter, side skirts, air extraction openings and more, while also furnishing swathes of the interior along with blue perforated Alcantara with red stitching. But of course.

Meanwhile the rims have been redesigned (while still referencing the ‘Delta Evoluzione’ era) and the spokes adapted to lose weight and add refinement. Oh, and there’s a quick-release rear end - just as on Group B cars of old - so you can show off the gearbox and exhausts at a moment’s notice.

During development of the car none other than two-time WRC champ Miki Biaison himself was on hand to tell Kimera founder Luca Betti what the original was like to drive.

Only 37 EVO37s are being made, so, y’know… get your order in quick if you want one. The Rally 037 was the last rear-wheel drive car to win the world rally championship, so its significance to driving pleasure could hardly be greater.
