More chrome? More crystal detailing? More diamond quilting? It seems Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house bespoke division, believes there’s always room to elevate luxury to another level. They’ve now turned their attention to Bentley’s fourth-generation Continental GT, GTC, and Flying Spur, sprinkling their signature touch across these Speed models to make them even more opulent. And yes, somehow, it is possible.
Mulliner’s upgrades start with the exterior, where their hallmark ‘Floating Diamonds’ grille replaces the standard design. It’s drenched in chrome, naturally, with plenty more shiny metal lining the sidebar and exhaust tailpipes. It’s all about those subtle yet unmistakable touches that exude luxury without shouting about it.
For the mirror caps, Satin Silver is the finish of choice, positioned above 22-inch alloy wheels in Tungsten Grey with polished accents. And don’t worry, the self-levelling Bentley centre caps remain intact, making sure your ‘B’ stays upright even at speed.
For the Continentals, Mulliner has crafted ‘Harmony’ headlights, complete with cut crystal reflectors that look as though they’ve been borrowed straight from a high-end chandelier. Out back, the taillights lose the grey tint for a striking red mask, adding a layer of elegance that’s almost too easy to miss but impossible to forget once noticed.
Then there’s the paint – with a mind-boggling choice of 101 colours. If you fancy matching your car to the silk lining of your favourite bespoke suit, Mulliner will make that happen.
Inside, the cabin is equally breathtaking. Bespoke mats and tread plates are just the start, as the seats feature hand-stitched diamond quilting that even extends to the fabric roof cover in the GTC. If the customisation options sound excessive, well, that’s kind of the point. You’ve got 15 primary, 11 secondary, and six accent colours, plus eight different types of wood veneer to choose from. Even the most elaborate video games don’t offer this much choice!
The driver’s LED instrument cluster gets a minor graphical update, and the pedals, steering wheel, and panoramic roof (on the GT and Flying Spur) benefit from some tasteful adjustments.
What doesn’t change, though, is what’s under the bonnet. The trio still retains Bentley’s 4.0-litre hybrid V8, which pumps out 575 kW and 1,055 Nm of torque. And yes, it’ll even let you cruise for up to 80 km in zero-emission electric mode, depending on which model you’re in.
As for pricing? Mulliner hasn’t spilled the beans yet, but considering the standard Continental GT starts at £236,000, expect these enhancements to push that figure well north. But then again, luxury like this was never going to come cheap, was it?
