MadMac is finally ready for action! At least, that's how it appears on the outside. As you'd expect from a bespoke, one-off drift hypercar, the testing phase has been anything but smooth. Picture this: a 1,000hp engine so powerful it's twisting the chassis subframe. Not exactly smooth sailing.
Since this beast will soon be engulfed in tyre smoke, let's take a moment to appreciate the details. MadMac is unmistakably a P1, yet it’s evolved into something far more extroverted. Imagine a P1 on protein shakes, steroids, and whatever turned the Hulk into a green, raging giant.
At the front, you’ve got dive planes and a race-spec splitter. Vented front wheel arches pair with a custom widebody kit from RocketBunny in Japan, fabricated specifically for MadMac. Aero wheels up front because, let’s face it, everything looks better with aero wheels.
The butterfly doors follow the 650S’s simpler cooling channels rather than the P1’s intricate ‘double-skin’ design. Extra cooling is provided by gratuitous holes cut into the bodywork behind the cabin, offering a tantalising peek into the rotary engine bay.
And have you ever seen a more unconventional exhaust setup? One artillery-sized cannon out the back, flanked by two smaller anti-aircraft guns shooting from the rear deck.
During initial test runs, the team discovered that the 3D-printed gear lever mount couldn’t handle the force of loaded-up gear changes—it sheared off in Mike's hand. The hydraulic handbrake mount met a similar fate, so both have now been remounted with robust metal foundations. Minor hiccups aside, like a major oil leak, it’s all hands on deck to get MadMac back to peak condition and ready for its UK debut at Goodwood.
