Despite some early turbulence at the start, Charles Leclerc has ultimately won the Monaco Grand Prix. He had a relatively calm drive to P1 in front of his home supporters.
Before the famous race had even begun, red flags were raised due to a serious incident between Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg's Haas vehicles and Sergio Perez's Red Bull, which eliminated all three drivers from contention.
When racing resumed, Leclerc led the field cleanly, with the exception of Esteban Ocon, who had to retire after making hard contact with Pierre Gasly on the first lap. It was a race of strategy, with everyone watching to see if the front-running cars would pit or finish the race.
But despite everything, the Ferrari driver maintained his composure and outperformed his competitors to win for the first time on the streets of Monte Carlo, surpassing his previous best finish of P4.
Leclerc finished seven seconds ahead of Oscar Piastri, who drove the McLaren with confidence and fended off a last-ditch push from Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard finished third, completing a double podium for Ferrari. For the majority of the latter stages, Sainz was also being pursued by Lando Norris; the second McLaren finished the day in fourth place.
After a difficult few days for Red Bull, George Russell, who is racing this weekend with an improved front wing, led the Mercedes in fifth place. Max Verstappen was putting pressure on Russell. The Silver Arrows' point total was increased by Lewis Hamilton, who finished in seventh place.
Yuki Tsunoda had another strong day, coming in eighth in the RB. Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly, representing Williams and Alpine, respectively, scored their first points of the season in ninth and tenth place.
After a challenging Saturday, Fernando Alonso made significant progress but was only able to finish in P11 for Aston Martin, ahead of Daniel Ricciardo in P12 for RB and Valtteri Bottas as the leading Kick Sauber in P13.
Lance Stroll, who finished the race in P14 for Aston Martin due to a puncture during a pit stop in the second half of the race, was disappointed. Logan Sargeant of Williams finished in P15.
After four cars failed to complete the first lap, Zhou Guanyu emerged as the final classified driver for Kick Sauber, finishing in 16th place.
After colliding with Gasly, the previously mentioned Ocon retired and was given a five-place grid reduction for the upcoming race in Canada.
He was joined by Perez, Magnussen, and Hulkenberg as the other retirement after their spectacular collision on the first lap of the competition.
