Visiting a wilderness that is remote from you... courtesy of Extreme E's creators

The Extreme H sibling series to the Extreme E electric racing class is currently under construction and might debut as early as 2025.

The FIA and the individuals behind Extreme E have now signed a Memorandum of Understanding (yup, legal jargon for a pinkie promise) to establish the new off-road championship, with an eye toward it achieving formal World Championship status in 2026. This off-road competition was first proposed early last year.

According to the plans, Extreme E, which is now only classified as an International Series, might receive the same improvement the following year.

There aren't many further information, and it's unclear how the Odyssey 21 will be modified to use hydrogen-based propulsion. But given that both shows are focused on sustainability and protecting the environment, you'd think they'd compete against one another to save money. Also, emissions.

There must be place on board the St. Helena cargo ship, where Extreme E tours the world, for a fleet of hydrogen-powered 4x4 racers.

Alejandro Agag, the founder and CEO of Extreme E, stated, "Establishing alongside the FIA a world-first hydrogen racing world championship will be a monumental milestone for Extreme E and the new Extreme H series. If Extreme H were to eventually be accredited as an FIA Championship and ultimately an FIA World Championship, it would rank among the top international motorsport divisions and become the first world championship racing series of its kind.

"This news is an important first step in the growth of our championship and our revolutionary switch to racing using hydrogen fuel. Our dedication to provide exciting, sustainable motorsport championships with a small carbon impact is proof that sport is the most potent and effective platform to spur innovation.

"We are excited to continue working with Extreme E on their journey to becoming an FIA World Championship," FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem further stated. The FIA's main goal and part of our long-term plan is to use sustainable power sources in motor racing, and this series is the perfect venue to demonstrate that. We have created a set of safety guidelines for hydrogen-powered cars that are a part of the FIA's International Sporting Code because hydrogen is a significant component of that mixture.

"It is reassuring that a significant motorsports organization like Extreme E, with its illustrious roster of teams, recognizes the promise of hydrogen technology. They take the same stance on equality and diversity as we do as we work to make motorsports accessible to everyone.
