Its the first model from the new brand

The Jetour X70 Plus is gearing up for its debut in South Africa, marking one of the Chinese brand’s initial offerings in the region. Jetour, owned by the Chery Group yet operating as an “independent brand,” is set to make waves, particularly with this striking SUV.

Hot on the heels of the Jetour Dashing, which has already been priced locally, we’ve now got the full cost breakdown for the X70 Plus. This isn't to be confused with Proton’s X70, despite the similarity in naming

At launch, the Jetour X70 Plus will come in two variants, both powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, the same unit that propels the 5-seater Dashing. This engine churns out a respectable 115 kW and 230 Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Pricing starts at R459,900 for the Jetour X70 Plus 1.5T Momentum, with the 1.5T Deluxe priced from R489,900.

In terms of size, the X70 Plus stretches 4,724 mm from front to back, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. That makes it just 4 mm longer than the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and adds 10 mm between the axles. A minor difference on paper, but potentially noticeable on the road.

Curiously, the South African-spec X70 Plus appears to sport a slightly different look compared to the global version, with design cues borrowed from the “X70 Pro” available in China. It’s all about those bold grille lines and an aggressive body kit, which certainly ups the ante in the styling department.

While we’re still waiting on local specifications, it’s safe to expect a generous list of standard features, given Jetour’s connection to the Chery Group. The X70 Plus will also come with some reassuring warranties: a 5-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, a staggering 10-year/1-million km engine warranty, and a 5-year/60,000 km service plan.

Jetour South Africa has wasted no time establishing a presence, with 40 dealerships already set up and spare parts stockpiled at their Johannesburg hub. All signs point to a brand that's ready to compete.

Pricing

- Jetour X70 Plus 1.5T Momentum – R459,900

With competitive pricing, solid warranties, and eye-catching design, the Jetour X70 Plus looks set to carve out its space in South Africa’s growing SUV market. Expect the full range of features and that industry-leading engine warranty to draw in plenty of buyers.
