Rolls-Royce has taken its Bespoke expertise to the pinnacle with this one-of-a-kind Phantom, created as an opulent tribute to the 1964 Bond classic Goldfinger. Dubbed “Phantom Goldfinger,” this creation is more than just a nod to the iconic 1937 Phantom III from the film; it’s a true masterpiece of craftsmanship with gold inlay everywhere - including a solid 18-carat gold bar tucked in the center console.
It took Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke team three years to bring this vehicle to life. An entire year went into crafting the dash inlay, which maps the Furka Pass in Switzerland, a nod to the legendary chase scene where Bond follows Goldfinger’s Phantom III through the twisty mountain roads. This intricate stainless steel inlay went through ten designs before they settled on one worthy of the Goldfinger name. Not stopping there, they recreated the night sky over Furka Pass as it was on July 11, 1964, right down to the last constellation, and set it in the headliner with stars that emit a soft, golden glow.
Gold accents are everywhere. The Spirit of Ecstasy, speakers, climate vents, and interior trim have all been gold-plated. Inside the glovebox, there’s a debossed quote from the villain Auric Goldfinger himself, and a custom-made gold-plated golf club in the trunk to match the one in the film. Even the VIN plate is finished in 24-carat gold. Rolls-Royce has hidden an 18-carat gold bar in a bespoke console compartment shaped to resemble the Phantom Speedform, one detail that’s pure luxury, valued at close to half a million USD, making it as collectible as it is rare.
The final touches are equally Bond-worthy. Rolls-Royce designed a fictional map of Fort Knox for the car’s picnic tables, which took an additional six months to create. In the trunk, you’ll find a projection of the 007 logo, a playful tribute to the tracking device Bond famously attached to Goldfinger’s car. The trademark door-mounted umbrellas even match the color scheme from the movie.
The exterior itself is pure ‘60s Bond style, painted in yellow and black to echo the original Phantom III from Goldfinger. Rolls-Royce added bespoke 22-inch wheels with floating center caps that match the vintage car. The number plate, “AU1,” is a deliberate nod to gold’s chemical symbol on the periodic table, secured exclusively for this Phantom.
According to Rolls-Royce Bespoke designer Nick Rhodes, “Bringing Phantom Goldfinger into being was one of the Bespoke Collective’s greatest creative journeys to date. The elegant and whimsical features that reference the film’s most memorable moments are an exquisite demonstration of the power of Bespoke in adding a new chapter to an existing story.”
