At last, the whispers and rumors can be laid to rest — Hyundai has officially announced that its wildly popular N Vision 74 concept is heading for production. Yes, the very same concept that turned heads with its retro-futuristic, wedge-shaped design is no longer just a tantalizing dream. Instead, it’s part of Hyundai’s ambitious plan to roll out 21 new electric models by 2030.
The announcement was cleverly tucked into a slide during Hyundai’s annual CEO and Investor Day presentation, where the N Vision 74 was listed as one of their future “high-performance EVs.” It’s a sneaky little nod, but a hugely significant one for those of us who have been waiting to see this concept on the road.
As for what will power this production-bound N Vision 74? Hyundai’s keeping us in the dark for now, leaving us to guess whether it will retain the concept’s bonkers 500 kW hydrogen fuel cell setup or pivot to a fully electric drivetrain. Given the current lukewarm reception to hydrogen power, a full electric seems the safer bet.
Last we heard back in December, Hyundai was planning a limited run — just 100 units, with 70 for the road and 30 for racing. If the production is kept this exclusive, there’s every chance Hyundai could stick with the hydrogen option and still make it work. Reports suggest a production N Vision 74 could crank out a whopping 597 kW (800 hp) from a dual electric motor hydrogen powertrain. Another source hints at a slightly more modest 578 kW (775 hp). Either way, this car is going to be fast.
What about the production timeline? Hyundai’s playing it cool, only committing to a release before 2030. However, rumors from The Korean Car Blog suggest production might kick off as early as 2026, with R&D already in full swing at Hyundai’s Namyang development center. So, it’s only a matter of time before we see some camouflaged prototypes tearing up test tracks.
One thing’s for sure: the N Vision 74 is no longer just a concept we drool over — it’s a reality that’s coming to life. And that’s something to get seriously excited about.
