Lamborghini's first electric vehicle (EV) is a four-door grand tourer with unusual dimensions that is scheduled for introduction in 2028.

This month's Pebble Beach concourse will offer a sneak peek at Lamborghini's transition to a fully electric future with a concept car teasing the company's first EV. According to this recently revealed teaser image, the new vehicle, which is scheduled to debut in 2028, will have a four-door GT bodystyle rather than the conventional supercar shape.

The Lamborghini EV will incorporate design aspects from its supercar stablemates in a more practical 2+2 configuration, comparable to the Estoque concept from 2008. It will be supported by a specific electric car chassis. The scalable SSP Sport platform is a potential option for the new model's architecture, which is anticipated to be sourced from the larger Volkswagen Group.

SSP Sport is being developed by Porsche for next Taycan and Panamera iterations, making it an ideal match for Lamborghini's forthcoming four door model. While it's too soon to anticipate battery and motor specs, the SSP platform will feature an 800V electrical architecture to handle 350kW quick charging when it makes its debut in 2026. SSP Sport will have over 1700bhp in its most potent version. Lamborghini will undoubtedly make use of the performance-oriented battery packs that Volkswagen has stated will be available to its premium brands for SSP vehicles.

The new vehicle will be immediately recognizable as a Lamborghini because to its sharp shoulder line and bow-like appearance, and its EV architecture has made it possible for a more unique set of proportions than the long-bonnet design of the Estoque. Lamborghini enlarged the new model's interior to create a practical four-seat configuration inside despite the absence of a combustion engine up front.

The introduction of Lamborghini's first electric vehicle, which is anticipated for 2028, will coincide with the 60th anniversary of the magnificent V12-powered Espada, another 2+2 grand tourer that provided supercar performance at the time.
