Czinger, the plucky Californian supercar manufacturer, is back in the headlines. You might recognize their mental 21C, which recently shattered a production road car record at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now, Czinger has its sights set on even loftier goals.
At the Festival of Speed, founder and CEO Kevin Czinger had a chat with CarBuzz, hinting at their next ambitious move. While he kept the details under wraps, he did tease a "little international trip next year." Could this mean an assault on the Nürburgring?
If they’re eyeing the Nürburgring production car lap record, they’ve got their work cut out. The current king of the 'Ring is the Mercedes-AMG One, with a blistering lap time of 6 minutes, 30.7 seconds. Hot on its heels is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey, clocking in at 6 minutes, 38.8 seconds.
It’s tough to say if the 21C can dethrone these titans, but this supercar is no pushover. The 21C already owns the lap record at the Circuit of the Americas, tearing through in 2 minutes, 11.3 seconds—over 6 seconds faster than the previous record. It also dominates the production car lap record at WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway, with a time of 1 minute, 25.4 seconds, outpacing the McLaren Senna.
The 21C certainly packs the punch needed for such feats. The standard model boasts a mid-mounted, 2.88-liter V8 hybrid engine churning out up to 1,350 horsepower in the Blackbird Edition. Meanwhile, the 21C VMax version claims a top speed of 407 km/h.
Keep your eyes peeled, because Czinger’s next move might just rewrite the record books once again.
