It promises its the final Chiron

Similar to the Veyron that came before it, the Chiron has given rise to an endless number of limited editions and one-offs. But this is the last day because Bugatti just revealed the last vehicle. The final hypercar to bear the name of Monégasque driver Louis Chiron, aptly named L'Ultime, has been meticulously hand-assembled at the driver's residence in Molsheim.

Since the livery is based on the car that was displayed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Chiron's epilogue is based on the Super Sport. The 500th car's inspiration can actually be seen in some of the photos in the Bugatti museum. From French Racing Blue to Atlantic Blue, the unique livery fades. Eight years have passed since the vehicle's inception, and handwritten names of significant occasions and locations have added to the two-tone design.

The letters Ehra-Lessien (where it reached 304 mph), Paul Ricard (where it was tested), Geneva (where it made its debut), and Chantilly (where it was frequently shown) decorate the last gasp. In a reference to the places where a small group of patrons experienced the Chiron's maximum speed, Bugatti also noted Château Saint Jean and Cape Canaveral.

To emphasize the point, "500" has been handwritten on the wheel caps and the bottom of the rear wing. Moreover, it is positioned front of the back wheels and etched on the engine cover of the 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W-16 monster. Not that it surprises us; Bugatti took advantage of the chance to honor the birthplace of the Chiron by placing the French flag on the side mirrors.

What Bugatti won't reveal is who owns the farewell edition. Based on the orange side indicators, we believe it could be a US citizen. The Chiron era is far from over, even if this is the last vehicle to bear the Chiron badge. The track-only Bolide (40 units) and Mistral roadster (99 units) are still produced by Bugatti.
