This brand-new, second-generation BMW X2 wants your clothing, boots, and motorcycle, much like the majority of modern BMWs. Yes, the kidney grille is much more pronounced and large than before.
The X2 has expanded in every dimension, much like the rest of the vehicle, and is now 194mm longer, 21mm wider, and 64mm higher than the Mk1 while having a more coupe-like sloping roofline. The wheelbase has increased by 22mm in the meantime, and BMW guarantees that all five passengers will have additional shoulder and elbow room.
You have three options for powertrains: two gasoline and one electric. The entry-level vehicle is the sDrive20i, which has a 1.5-liter mild hybrid engine with 168 horsepower. According to BMW, that is sufficient for 0-100 kph in 8.3 seconds and 5.0 L/100 km of fuel efficiency.
The more fruitier M35i xDrive, on the other hand, comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (with quad exhausts? ), good for 296 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The pipes now make sense, I see. The time from 0 to 100 kph is only 5.4 seconds, and the peak speed is 250 kph. M Compound brakes with callipers that measure 385mm up front and 330mm down back are optional. Both combustion vehicles come with a seven-speed automatic.
The completely electric iX2, which will be produced in Regensburg on the same assembly line, comes last. With 309 horsepower on boost and 495 Nm of torque, it has the highest power (barely). It takes two tenths longer to reach 100 kph (perhaps due to weight), but a 64.8 kWh battery provides 430 Km of range.
The cells may be recharged with 11kW AC (22kW is optional) or 130kW DC; the latter will do so from 10 to 80% in 29 minutes.
It comes with 19-inch wheels, adjustable suspension, and a mechanical limited-slip differential as standard M Sport features. Inside, the 10.25-inch instrument cluster and 10.7-inch touchscreen combine to form one large display. For the 95% of us that will stay with what we know, it supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in addition to BMW's iDrive and its most recent operating system.
A reversing camera, two-zone automatic temperature control, heated sports seats, Alcantara accents, a leather steering wheel, satellite navigation, rain-sensing wipers, and automated headlights are all included. There are a huge number of active safety features, as is the norm these days.
On October 26 at the Japan Mobility Show (formerly the Tokyo Motor Show), the new BMW X2 will make its world premiere. The first vehicles will be delivered in March 2024.
