With the addition of larger air intakes, a redesigned grille, several exhaust tailpipes, and—not to mention—the most potent combustion engine it has ever produced, Audi has cranked up its most muscular vehicle yet.
Welcome to the Audi RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance, two of the company's best SUVs, which have more power and grip than you could ever need from such a behemoth.
The common 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine powers both vehicles. The RS Q8 can accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds with 592 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, while the even more powerful RS Q8 Performance (shown above) can reach 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. With 621 horsepower in its most recent Performance trim, the RS6 Avant's monstrous engine is now inferior to the latter powerplant, making it Audi Sport's largest ever.
The Performance vehicle also receives a lighter exhaust system, which contributes to the extremely powerful power output and produces a louder sound. That will undoubtedly make you popular.
Quattro, an eight-speed automatic transmission with shorter shift times, and a mechanical center differential with a 40:60 power split between the front and back axles are standard on both Leviathans. As you can see, this causes it to be rear-biased.
Audi states that when "slippage occurs," no more than 70% of the V8's torque is transferred to the front and up to 85% to the rear. This results in more accurate cornering and less understeer. Just what you're looking for in a large, bulky SUV.
The "dynamic" pack, which includes active roll stabilization (using two e-motors and a 48V battery), a quattro sport diff, and a ceramic brake configuration, is an optional addition to the basic adaptive air suspension.
There are new paint possibilities, new wheels that range in size from gigantic to very large yet lightweight, new interior colorways, new lights that include the option of freakin' laser lights, a few more RS-specific accessories like Alcantara here and shift light indications there.
