Behold the Q-tailored V8 DB12

Can’t quite recall the film? That’s alright it’s the car that matters. Feast your eyes on the Q-tailored Aston Martin V8 DB12, dubbed the "Goldfinger Edition," celebrating six decades since the DB5 first made its unforgettable appearance on the silver screen.

Sure, we might struggle to recall the movie’s title right now, but the DB5? Absolutely unmissable. That iconic grand tourer now lives on in the DB12 you see here, which, thanks to Aston’s ‘Q Branch’, has been given a seriously suave makeover to mark the occasion.

Now, the original 1964 DB5 was all about gadgets and gizmos—perfect for a certain secret agent whose name might also be slipping our minds. This new DB12, though, plays it differently, paying homage with a more refined, but equally stunning, nod to the DB5’s ‘Silver Birch’ paint. Then there’s the 21-inch multi-spoke diamond-cut alloys, stealthy black brake calipers, and those striking gold side strakes. Oh, and don’t miss the specially treated Aston Martin badge, either pure class.

Inside, the cabin takes the luxury up another notch. The leather sports seats feature a subtle ‘Prince of Wales’ check perforation pattern, a clear tip of the hat to the famous spy we still can’t name. But no need to linger on that, the car’s the real star here.

As it’s a "Goldfinger Edition", Aston’s taken the concept quite literally with 18-karat gold-plated details throughout the interior. From the drive mode dial to the roller controls and gear selector, everything glistens with a touch of golden flair. And if that wasn’t enough, Aston’s even woven gold fibres into the carbon fibre trim. Talk about subtle opulence.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Goldfinger tribute without a few cheeky details. Look closely, and you’ll spot an embroidered eight of hearts on the sun visors, a playful nod to a memorable scene from… err… well, we’ll get there eventually. (No, it’s not Breakfast at Tiffany’s).

But this isn’t just about the car itself. Buyers of this limited-edition DB12 also get a custom car cover, a beautifully crafted presentation box for the key, and a bottle of 2007 Bollinger champagne, accompanied by four exclusive glasses. Because what’s a Bond car, ah getting warmer! without a little indulgence?

Under the bonnet, the Goldfinger DB12 remains as potent as ever. That 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 churns out a meaty 500 kW and 800 Nm of torque, propelling this grand tourer from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. With a top speed of 325 km/h, it’s not just about looking the part, this thing can move. A fair bit quicker than the old DB5 ever managed in, well… still drawing a blank on the film title.

Aston Martin is producing just 60 examples of this "Goldfinger Edition." “It’s an incredible milestone to celebrate six decades of this partnership,” said Aston Martin’s brand and commercial chief, Marco Mattiaci. “We’ve crafted an extraordinary special edition to honour the very first and arguably most famous Aston Martin Bond car.”

“With these subtle but impactful touches from our ‘Q’ department, we’ve created a unique offering that Bond fans around the world will fall in love with.”
