A 278hp EV rocket packed with Race-Ready Tech

The new Abarth 600e is here, and it’s Abarth’s most powerful car yet. Top spec? A serious 278hp (207kW) and a feature list that includes motorsport-inspired touches like Formula E-derived tyres and racing-grade monobloc calipers.

Let’s get to the numbers. In its base form, the 600e delivers 235hp (175kW) and 346Nm, dashing from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h. Range? An impressive 333 kilometers on a single charge. And for those craving a bit of drama, there’s an artificial sound generator in the mix.

Regardless of trim, Abarth’s included some serious tech: stiffer suspension, a reinforced chassis, and a Torsen limited-slip differential for added traction. Formula E-derived Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres hug the road, backed by 380mm Alcon racing brakes. Weight’s targeted at a lean 1,600kg, keeping it nimble for those tight turns.

It’s got the looks, too. Sculpted lines, dark skid plates, and a “shark nose” up front bring some real aggression. The car sits lower with a wider stance, 30mm at the front and 25mm at the back. The new headlights, though? The semi-circle design gives it a half-awake look that’s polarizing, but the rest of the car’s swagger makes up for it.

Elsewhere, Abarth’s equipped it with 20-inch diamond-cut alloys, a thick rear wing, and diffuser refined in a wind tunnel. Colour options include Acid Green and Venom Black, though we’d have loved a punchy “Spidey Red” in the mix.

Inside, you’ll find an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel and scorpion-stitched bucket seats, with ambient lighting adding some flair. There’s a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a six-speaker audio setup, and a USB type A+C combo for all your charging needs.

As for driving modes, the 600e doesn’t skimp. You’ve got ‘Turismo’ for easygoing trips, ‘Scorpion Street’ for spirited drives, and ‘Scorpion Track’ when you’re ready to dial it up. These settings adjust torque, throttle, steering, and traction response, anything from “mum’s Tesco run” to “mum, hold my helmet.”

Level 2 ADAS is here too, including features like automatic braking and ‘Drowsy Driver Detection’ (maybe it could help with those sleepy eyes up front?). ChatGPT integration also makes an appearance, managing tasks like preheating the car, scheduling an overnight charge, or of course activating the artificial exhaust sound for when you’re in the mood.
