The Jeep Wagoneer S, an all-electric luxury midsize SUV scheduled for release in the US in 2024, will probably compete with a number of high-end electric SUVs already available domestically, such the BMW iX and Rivian R1S.
According to Autocar, the five-meter-long SUV will debut in the US first, then in left- and right-hand drive countries in Europe, including the UK, in 2025. The newspaper also stated that it will have a range of 600 km, which was only under the 640 km Jeep had predicted when the SUV was first shown in September 2022. In EPA and WLTP test cycles, that number will change.
The Wagoneer S will be the most expensive model in Jeep's seven-model lineup for the UK, which also includes the Wrangler-inspired Jeep Recon and the already-on-sale Jeep Avenger, which won the European Car of the Year award in January 2023. The lineup also features a brand-new electric vehicle (EV), which Jeep CEO Christian Meunier hailed as a glimpse into the company's future.
The STLA Large architecture from Stellantis will support the electric Wagoneer. Due to its twin motor all-wheel drive system, Jeep claims that it will have 600 horsepower and accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in under 3.5 seconds. If it turns out to be accurate, the Wagoneer S would accelerate more quickly than the Tesla Model X, BMW iX, and Rivian R1S.
According to the press photos, it has a sleek body with smooth aerodynamic surface, and its proportions exude an air of upscale comfort and elegance, suggesting that it may even be an electric competitor to the Range Rover Sport.
At a meeting in Las Vegas at the beginning of the year, Stellantis presented the Wagoneer S to dealers. Some former dealers were so inspired by the concept that they were adamant about returning to the trade. According to one dealer, the Wagoneer S might have performance comparable to the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk's 707 horsepower.
